Who is the ‘Em’ in EmPower?
Health & wellbeing is a personal journey. I have been on ‘my journey’ for over 30 years and I have no plans to stop.
▪ From training as a fitness instructor, taking three evening sessions a week after a full day at the office, through to having children and running boot camps for mothers I met at the school gate; physical and emotional fitness has always been a significant part of my life.
▪ Over the last 15 years my body has been through incredible changes; from a busy career transitioning into motherhood, having three children and personal health challenges.
▪ My journey has taught me that women’s fitness is critical; people who stay active live longer, stronger, happier lives.
What is the EmPower approach?
EmBark on the journey of your lifetime. Whatever the stage of your life, I will provide a wellness programme tailored to your unique needs. EmPower will guide and inspire you every step of the way.
EmPathise is where EmPower is different. A flexible and holistic approach is essential for understanding women’s physical and emotional needs. I work alongside practitioners who focus on mind and spirit, to deliver a comprehensive wellness programme.
EmBrace Women are natural networkers, but work and caring responsibilities can leave some feeling isolated. EmPower brings women together in groups of a maximum of ten to enjoy doing something for themselves, in a mutually supportive atmosphere.
EmBolden Anyone who knows me knows that I am passionate, enthusiastic and brave. If my EmPower sessions don’t leave you feeling emboldened, nothing will!
EmErge fitter and stronger, inside and out, with a greater appreciation of how body and mind work together for a healthier, happier YOU.
EmPower Outside & EmPower Inside
EmPower Case Studies
Launched in September 2021, to date EmPower has supported over 100 women - as well as a few men - to improve both their physical and mental health. Many clients have been with me from day one, some who previously could never settle with a personal trainer have trained with me for over 18 months. EmPower recognises that every person’s journey is unique, and the ever evolving empathetic approach has seen success - in many forms - across the board.
Stamina, Strengthening & Sports Support A number of my clients enjoy tennis, swimming, running and some have even been competitive sports people in their youth. However a lifetime of sports can take its toll. By adapting exercises to meet individual needs, I have helped these clients regain their strength and stamina to continue to participate; allowed others to play their chosen sport free of pain (either during the game or in the aftermath); as well as helped people keep their bodies strong and agile despite knee, hip and elbow injuries.
Addressing Historic, Undiagnosed & Hidden Injuries Often women suffer from back pain and core weakness, due to stomach separation from pregnancy. Stomach separation can last for years, unnoticed by mothers as their focus moves from themselves to their children. Initial assessments and discussions suggested to me that this could be the case for one particular client. Working in a very methodical way, in less than six months she no longer had what had become all too familiar back pain. And having built strength through the core - from the quads, hamstrings & glutes right up to the diaphragm - now feels both taller and stronger.
Mental Health & Body Confidence Some women are self conscious about exercising outdoors, but I love the mental health benefits of exercising outside - and it is key to the EmPower approach. A number of my clients have had body confidence issues, which meant they didn’t want to be seen outside in their gym kit, or ‘on show’ whilst they worked out. With gentle persuasion, empathy and ongoing encouragement each one of these ladies has moved to become a solid supporter of the outdoor exercise approach - it has changed their mental setting, giving them body confidence and a positive self image.
